Frequently asked questions about participating:

Can I see some quotes from teachers who are involved?
Who is allowed to participate?
Why do you require that the artists be so advanced?
How much does it cost to participate?
How much time will we have to create the portraits?
What are the instructions for media, size, etc?
Why must we commit to a minimum of 5 portraits?

Art teachers usually implement this project with their most advanced class, thus commiting to an average of about 15 portraits. (The record for most portraits produced by any one school was set at exactly 100 by Lewiston-Porter High School in NY). Although we wish we could allow teachers to register only one or two students, we have found that it makes the process of distributing photos and receiving portraits too cumbersome to continue. Therefore, we ask that each group that signs up commits to a minimum of five portraits. For example, if only two students are interested in participating at a particular school, then each of those students could produce two portraits, and the teacher could produce the fifth.
